Year 6 have been learning about the Coventry so we had a whole day focused on learning through experiences on the anniversary of the Blitz – 14th November.

Paying respects and remembering the sacrifice of the few, for the many. 100 Years since the guns fell silent.

On Friday 9th November, the whole school took part in a day to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War 1 and the Armistice.  Many activities took place such as drama workshops, art, discussions and assemblies in which the pupils were able to explore what happened and why, and empathise with those who were there. It was amazing to hear the pupils’ viewpoints of the event and fascinating to hear about some of their families’ own experiences and memories.

Lest we forget.

We are learning about the Coventry Blitz, then we had better go and visit Coventry and see the effects for ourselves! A brilliant day, full of learning experiences.

The children worked on creating nets of 3D shapes which we turned into a city and then witnessed the effects of a bombing raid for ourselves!
